Xenia Kessler joins the Unifiber team

Shaking trees, a bit of sunshine, good windsurf friends knocking on the door to go surf… This must be one of the best ways in the world to be awakened…

My name is Xenia Kessler, and I’m from the cold north, Denmark. Since this is my first season on the Unifiber Team, I think it’s in place to introduce myself…

The first important thing to say about me may be…. I love to windsurf. I love the energy and power, the style and the possibilities to make every movement your own. The social aspect and the community spirit you feel with other surfers on the beach, only because they are just as crazy as you, about windsurfing. It’s cool… But something which is also cool about windsurfing is, that there’s always a new challenge to take. This being new conditions or spot, equipment, discipline or a new move…It’s always a lot of fun to be on the water.

I was introduced to freestyle early in my learning – actually along with the beachstart and footstraps, thanks to a friend of mine that wasn’t afraid of challenging me. I did light wind freestyle, and still do, when the wind is low, as I like the technical challenge it gives. Today, about 3-4 years later, Freestyle is still what I like the most.

I’m 19 years old, and finished high school last year. This gave me the opportunity to finally go travelling with my windsurf gear – something I had only dreamt of, when I jumped into the thick wetsuit every winter. I went to Brazil and Bonaire for 4,5 months, and had hours on the water training! Was so great!

In 2009...

This season I will join events in Denmark, but I also plan to join some events other places in Europe. Next to that, some girls and I are taking our girls event “Girls Go Windsurf” to next level. We’ll continue gathering and teaching windsurfgirls. We plan to make the camp open for all girls that would like to learn windsurfing – beginners and intermediates, and then we will introduce the intermediate girls to freestyle. It would be really cool to see some girls from other countries too.

From today on, I’m also really happy to be a part of the Unifiber team, and be able to rock these strong products. I see a lot of cool things going on at Unifiber, especially I’m excited to spin these new freestyle fins. They look very good!

I hope this will be a full power year, with a lot of wind for us to go have some fun on the water.

Thanks for reading
