FAQ
RDM or SDM -- which should I choose?
RDM (Reduced Diameter) is lighter, more flexible, and more durable -- ideal for wave sailing and smaller sails. SDM (Standard Diameter) is stiffer with better power transmission -- preferred for freeride, slalom, and larger sails. If you weigh under 80 kg, RDM often provides a more comfortable ride even in larger sizes.
What is the Universal Ferrule System?
All Unifiber masts use an integrated ferrule system. Unlike conventional masts where a ferrule is glued in after cutting the mast in half, Unifiber constructs the ferrule during production of the bottom section using prepreg material on an extra-tapered mandrel. A diamond grinding machine ensures a perfect fit. This means no kink at the joint, no bend curve disruption, and a stronger connection. All ferrules are identical across sizes, curves, and carbon content -- if a section breaks, you only need to replace that part. You can even mix tops and bases from different ranges.
How accurate are the listed weights?
All weights shown are for the mast only (excluding mastbag) with a tolerance of +/- 6%. This is standard across the windsurf industry due to manufacturing variance in carbon layup.
Is a mastbag included?
Mastbags are not included with any mast range (Essentials, HD, or Elite). We offer mastbag bundles at a reduced price -- look for the "Incl. Mast Bag" variants in our shop. You can also purchase a mastbag separately.
