Elite Carbon Boom
When performance is everything.
Engineered for maximum stiffness and minimum weight, the Elite carbon boom delivers superior power transfer and precise sail control through a modular system that lets you configure the exact setup your conditions demand.
Three pieces. Endless configurations. Zero compromises.
In 2019, we stopped seeing a boom as a single product. We broke it into three interchangeable parts -- boomhead, body, and tail -- and let you build exactly the setup your conditions demand.
Configure Me. The modular boom system.
Need two booms? Buy one and a half. Own a 190-240 Elite and upgrading to a bigger sail? Add a 220-270 tail to extend the range. Use the same boomhead across multiple bodies. If a part breaks, replace it -- not the whole boom.
The boomhead. Hundreds of R&D hours. Zero play.
The boomhead transmits every force through the mast. Instead of making it overly stiff, the Elite boomhead moulds to the mast shape, distributing forces evenly. RDM and SDM compatible. Tool-free swapping in seconds.
T700 carbon. 12% lighter. Deliberately not the stiffest.
The Elite uses specialised T700 carbon in a pre-preg layup. The layup includes a deliberate blend of fibre grades. A boom can be too stiff. The Elite finds the line between direct response and comfort you can sustain over a full session.
C-shape monocoque. Your wrists will notice.
The Elite's C-shape follows the natural position of your lead arm -- more comfortable during straight-line sailing, gybing, and every manoeuvre in between. High-density EVA grip on the front arch for abrasion resistance.
The gust hits. The sail profile holds.
A stiffer boom maintains the profile you set, giving you control instead of a rig that changes shape on its own. You feel it in the first five minutes. You really feel it after two hours.
Is the Elite for you?
If you pump through lulls, chase every gust, and push through chop -- the Elite brings a measurable difference. For a laid-back style, the HD carbon feels just as capable and more forgiving in choppy conditions.

Why Choose Unifiber Booms?
FAQs
Because none of us have unlimited budgets, but we still demand the best from our gear!
Unifiber booms come in a wide range of outline, tail width, grip diameter, tube shape, and more. Our selection is the widest available and offers excellent value.
We won’t be beaten on our balance of price, quality, and performance all of which ensure the most fun and enjoyable windsurfing experiences
How to choose between Carbon or aluminum Boom ?
The choice between carbon and aluminium booms primarily comes down to budget and performance preferences.
Carbon booms are significantly stiffer and more durable, providing superior responsiveness and power transfer, but come at a higher price point compared to the more affordable and reliable aluminium options.
What is a monocoque Boom ?
A monocoque boom is a windsurfing boom built as a single, continuous unit, offering increased rigidity, strength, and durability compared to traditional booms made of separate components.
Why choose a wide boom Tail ?
Windsurfers, particularly wave sailors and high-performance racers, often prefer booms with wider tails. There are several key benefits to using a wider boom tail:
- Better control in onshore wave conditions: The wider tail helps prevent the sail from folding over the boom, providing improved control and stability when riding waves.
- More efficient power transfer: For speed and racing applications, a wider tail allows the sail to extend further without distortion, resulting in more efficient power transfer to the board.
- Enhanced adjustability: Wider boom tails often accommodate adjustable outhaul systems, enabling quick and easy trimming of the sail's shape and power delivery.
Overall, the wider boom tail design offers windsurfers increased performance, control, and versatility - making it a popular choice for both wave sailing and high-speed disciplines.
What's a C Shape Boom ?
A C-shape boom refers to a windsurfing boom design that features a curved or "C-shaped" body, as opposed to a more traditional straight or "regular" shape.
The C-shape boom provides a more ergonomic hand position, allowing the rider's lead arm to maintain a more natural wrist angle during sailing, especially during maneuvers like jibing. This improved hand position can make certain windsurfing techniques and movements more comfortable and efficient for the rider.
What does 1 Year Unconditional + 1-Year Conditional warranty cover?
Warranty is valid 2 years after date of purchase. When making a warranty claim in the first year the product is unconditionally warranted.
When making a warranty claim in the 2nd year the product must have clearly suffered from a manufacturer error.
Can I purchase, boom parts?
Yes, we maintain a reliable stock of spare components.
Boom Head Mast Diameter Compatibility
When buying a new boom check for mast diameter compatibility. Most booms will work on both SDM and RDM masts.
Often this is achieved with a separate adapter for RDM masts.
There are also boomheads that are dedicated for use with RDM or SDM masts only. For SDM only booms there are universal adaptors or mast shims that allow for use with RDM masts.

Your Ride, Our Gear
Stiffness
Carbon is significantly stiffer than aluminium. A stiffer boom maintains better sail profile and delivers superior top-end control, especially in overpowered conditions.
Durability
Carbon does not permanently bend -- it either holds or breaks. This means a carbon boom stays true over its lifetime. However, carbon is more vulnerable to point loads such as impacts from mast bases or board rails. Aluminium bends gradually but can absorb localised hits better.
Weight
Carbon booms are noticeably lighter, improving handling and reducing fatigue during long sessions. The weight difference compounds over hours on the water.
Summary
Carbon is the premium choice and delivers measurable performance gains. Aluminium remains a solid option for beginners and budget-conscious riders who prioritise durability over outright performance.
Budget-friendly aluminium booms. Reliable construction for riders who want solid performance without the premium price tag.
Available in aluminium and carbon, built for durability. Increased wall thickness and added glass fibre reinforcement at critical stress points.
Carbon booms for uncompromised performance. Lightest weight, maximum stiffness, and refined ergonomics for demanding riders.
Grip Diameter
Booms come in round, V-grip, or Oval/V-grip profiles. Round grips feel natural and forgiving. V-grip and Oval/V-grip offer a more locked-in feel with better leverage, but the angular shape increases stiffness. Choose based on comfort preference and how aggressively you sail.
Narrow vs Wide Tail
Sails 6.8m2 and above generally benefit from a wider tail to accommodate the larger clew area. Using a narrow tail on a large sail forces the outhaul to pull at a steep angle, which can deform the sail profile and reduce performance.
Body Shape
Standard (straight) booms are the most common. C-shape booms have a slight inward curve that brings the boom closer to the body, creating a more ergonomic wrist position and a more natural stance. C-shape tends to feel more comfortable on long reaches.
Mast Compatibility
Most booms are designed for SDM (Standard Diameter Mast). If you use an RDM (Reduced Diameter Mast), check whether the boomhead includes an RDM adapter or if one is available separately. Proper fit is critical for a secure connection.
Inside vs Outside Tail
Inside tail clamps provide a stiffer connection because the tailpiece sits inside the boom body, creating a more rigid assembly. Outside tail clamps slide over the boom body and are easier to adjust on the water. The stiffness difference is small but noticeable at high performance levels.
The Modular Concept
Unifiber booms are designed as three separate components: boomhead, body, and tail. Each part is sold individually, giving riders full flexibility over their setup.
- Replace broken parts instead of buying a complete new boom
- Buy 1.5 booms instead of 2 -- share a boomhead across two body/tail combos for different sail sizes
- Mix ranges -- pair an Elite boomhead with an HD body, or upgrade components progressively
- Reduce shipping costs -- individual parts are smaller and lighter to ship
Boomhead Engineering
The boomhead is where all forces converge. Unifiber invests significant R&D into boomhead design, focusing on stiff connection to the mast, optimal force distribution across the boom body, and built-in mast protection to prevent damage at the clamping point.
