RPM iWindsurf 280 (FCD)
Freeride Feel. Inflatable Freedom.
RPM iWindsurf 280 (FCD) – Fusion Composite Dropstitch
The RPM 280 FCD blends true freeride performance with all the advantages of inflatable construction. Whether you’re just starting out or chasing planing jibes, this board delivers fast, fun sessions—without the hassle of transport, storage, or damage.
Forgiving underfoot and stable at rest, it’s ideal for progression. Add the centre fin to help track upwind, or ride it solo for smooth gliding and carving through turns.
Thanks to its ultra-stiff Fusion Composite Dropstitch construction, the RPM 280 pumps to 20 PSI for a locked-in, direct feel. A sharp PVC rail edge boosts water release, reduces drag, and helps you plane earlier—giving this inflatable board a performance edge over others.
Why choose the RPM 280 FCD?
✔ Freeride Shape – Compact and curved for fast planing and smooth jibes
✔ Stiff & Reactive – Fusion Composite Dropstitch holds higher pressure (20 PSI)
✔ Centre Fin Option – Helps beginners track straight and sail upwind
✔ Sharp PVC Edge – Enhanced water release = earlier planing
✔ EVA Deckpad – Diamond groove and directional grip for sure-footed sailing
✔ Unifiber Comfort Footstraps – Pre-mounted inserts with all-day comfort
✔ Travel-Friendly – Folds up small, fits in a car boot or closet

Board construction directly affects stiffness, weight, and durability. Stiffness is crucial as rigid boards generate significantly less drag than flexible ones.
Inflatable boards use "dropstitch" PVC—two layers of fiber-reinforced PVC connected by vertical threads of equal length, creating flat top and bottom surfaces. Board shape comes from sidewall design and slight top/bottom layer length differences.
Three main dropstitch technologies exist:
- Single layer (SL): Basic and affordable, ideal for light recreational use
- Double layer: Enhanced with extra PVC laminate—heavier but much stiffer and more durable
- Fusion Composite Dropstitch (FCD): Premium construction with more fibers and less PVC/glue, creating lighter, stiffer, and highly durable boards
Unifiber strives to offer a versatile and budget-friendly alternative to common hard-body beginner and freeride boards. The result – our iWindsurf range – combines fun, exciting, accessible windsurfing with a package that is compact and easy to carry around.
We maintain a extremely high standard of quality control. In addition to numerous checkpoints during manufacturing we do a final 72-hour test to check for any possible leakage. For every single board.
Fusion Composite Dropstitch technology is used in our boards to provide top-rated strength and stiffness, and minimal weight.
We build gear to last — and we back it up.

Single Layer vs. Fusion Composite Dropstitch Comparison
SL vs FCD
Single Layer (SL) offers basic construction with standard vertical dropstitch fibers (18PSI capacity), single PVC sealant, and simple rail reinforcement—making it lighter and more affordable but less rigid.
Fusion Composite Dropstitch (FCD) features advanced integrated construction with multiple fiber layers fused directly to the shell, high-density vertical fibers (25PSI capacity), and woven high-tensile strength materials—delivering superior stiffness, durability, and puncture resistance with a rock-solid core.
